A child’s inner thirst for knowledge and natural desire to learn, to explore and to understand the world around them is amazing. Their honesty, frankness and sense of humour are great fun to work with and being able to sow the seeds of knowledge and watch them blossom is incredibly rewarding. At The Learning Tree we nurture your children and it is our pleasure and privilege to help them on their journey to develop a lifetime love of learning.

My name is Louise Self and I have been teaching for 10 years . I started out as a classroom assistant supporting a child with special needs and worked my way up to class teacher and then to Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) lead.

I have experience of teaching children in all of the primary year groups from Reception to Year 6 and in my last school was a member of the Senior Leadership Team with overall responsibility for the curriculum. I am a fully qualified teacher as well as being trained in the Montessori Foundation Stage Pedagogy and in the Montessori Primary curriculum.

I live in Coggeshall and have 4 children of my own.

My name is Sarah Baker and I have been a Montessori teacher for 8 years. I have experience of teaching maths and language to children from Reception to year 5, and have worked alongside Louise during this time. In addition to being a class teacher, I have also taught music to children throughout the school.

In addition to teaching, in my previous school I was also a member of the Senior Leadership Team and my role was as Compliance Officer. My job was to make sure we had the right policies and procedures in place and that these were kept up to date.  I am also a trained Montessorian in the Foundation Stage and the Montessori Primary curriculum.

I live in Kelvedon and have 2 of my own school age children and 2 older stepchildren.

We both have DBS certification, up to date safeguarding training and have level 3 paediatric first aid training.
